    About Chilli nutrition

India is the world's largest producer of chilli. Flower and fruit drop is a major yield limiter, and balanced nutrition, especially calcium, boron and potassium around flowering, makes a visible difference to pod set, colour and pungency.

    Climate
Warm, humid climate, best at about 20-30 °C; heavy rain at flowering increases flower drop.
    Soil
Well-drained loam to black soils with good organic matter, pH around 6.0-7.0.

    Stage-wise nutrient management for Chilli

What the crop needs most at each growth stage.

    1. Transplanting & establishment

Phosphorus and organic manure for strong roots.

    2. Vegetative growth

Nitrogen with potassium; zinc and magnesium where soils are low.

    3. Flowering & fruit set

Calcium and boron to reduce flower and fruit drop.

    4. Fruit development & harvest

Potassium for pod size, colour and pungency.
