    Straight and secondary nutrient fertilizers

Straight fertilizers supply one main nutrient, often with a useful secondary nutrient, so a nutrition programme can be built around exactly what the soil and crop lack. They make up the bulk of soil-applied nutrition, as a basal dose at sowing or transplanting and as top dressing during growth.

Our range covers nitrogen with sulphur (ammonium sulphate), chloride-free potash (potassium sulphate 00:00:50 + 17.5% S and potassium schoenite 00:00:23 + 9% MgO), granular sulphur and magnesium sulphate.

    Buyer questions

What is the difference between SOP and MOP?

Both supply potassium. Sulphate of potash (SOP, potassium sulphate) is chloride-free and adds sulphur, so it is preferred for chloride-sensitive crops such as fruits, vegetables, tobacco and potato. Muriate of potash (MOP) contains chloride.

Why use ammonium sulphate on alkaline soils?

Ammonium sulphate has an acidifying effect in the soil, which suits alkaline soils, and it supplies sulphur alongside nitrogen, which benefits oilseeds, pulses, onion and other sulphur-demanding crops.

When is potassium schoenite a better fit than SOP?

Potassium schoenite supplies potassium, magnesium and sulphur together in a chloride-free form, so it is useful where crops need both potassium and magnesium, such as on sandy or magnesium-deficient soils.
